There’s nothing like the arrival of spring—the blooming trees, fresh green grass, and sunshine warming everything up—to spark my excitement for outdoor portraits. It’s a season full of new life, and the perfect time to capture some beautiful memories and turn them into artwork that lasts.

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a sweet young family of six at one of my favorite local spots—a peaceful little farm just outside of downtown Dandridge, Tennessee. With its wide-open pastures, quiet stream, walking paths, and the Smoky Mountains in the distance, it’s a hidden gem I love returning to for sessions.

This family brought all the good vibes—two adorable boys, two beautiful girls, and two well-prepared parents (healthy snacks for the win!). Their kids, ages one through eight, were full of curiosity, energy, and giggles. I loved how they came ready to play, which is always my favorite way to capture a family’s real personality and connection. We leaned into that natural playfulness and made the session feel more like an outdoor adventure than a formal photo shoot.

To keep things fun and light, we played games—laughing, running, spinning, and letting the kids simply be kids. One of my favorite moments? When the three older siblings held hands for a game of ring-around-the-rosie in the open field. They held hands, spun in circles, and completely lit up with laughter—it was the kind of pure childhood joy I can remember from when I was a child!

The weather was almost perfect—mid-seventies with golden sunshine—but the wind definitely made an appearance. Honestly though? I loved it. There’s something beautiful about movement in photos—hair blowing wildly, clothes catching the breeze—it brings life and energy into the images in a way that's hard to replicate.

We captured a mix of classic portraits and candid, playful moments. One highlight was photographing each child individually perched on a rustic wooden ladder, followed by a sweet group shot of all four gathered around it. These images feel like little glimpses into who they are at this moment in time, and I can already imagine them framed and hanging proudly in their home.

Every session I photograph is tailored to reflect your family's unique dynamic. From helping you choose outfits that match your personal style and home décor, to selecting the perfect location, I’ll walk you through every step. Whether you’re nervous about what to wear, where to go, or how to get your kids to actually enjoy the experience—I've got you covered.

If you’re in East Tennessee and looking for a Dandridge family photographer who makes sessions fun, relaxed, and meaningful—I’d love to connect. Let’s capture the laughter, love, and sweet chaos that make your family beautifully yours.
